The efficiency of your panels and the surface they cover will determine how much power you can generate. Do the math and figure what you require. It's a good idea to get a few really good panels, over many mediocre ones.

Solar energy is an excellent way to reduce energy costs in the long term. Solar panels are expensive and a long-term investment. If you don't plan to stick around, don't buy solar panels.

Do not allow aggressive salesmen to sway you when you are buying solar energy systems. You should have adequate time to plan and make the best decision for your needs. Don't fall victim to pushy sales tactics, as this could cost you both time and money.

Think over your budget carefully before you start thinking about buying solar panels. While solar panels have come a long ways, there are still instances where the costs outweigh the benefits. Without careful analysis of the figures, you could be setting yourself up for a truly nasty shock in the long run.

Though solar panels will normally be placed strategically for maximum sun exposure, time can change certain things and impact that exposure. Be sure to do regular checks to ensure that trees are not growing up and blocking essential sunlight from reaching the solar panels.

If you are interested in a certain type of solar panels, you should find out when this technology was designed. Make sure that the dealer you purchase your solar panels from is selling the latest technology, not panels from several years ago. It is true that older products are cheaper but investing in newer panels is worth it.

Be wary of pushy salesmen who make promises that seem too good to be true. It's common to find these salespeople in the solar energy industry. Right now, the moon is very very full (7 photos) January hosts not one but two supermoons, one tonight and the other on January 31 Although heavy cloud cover means it's unlikely we will be able to see it tonight, there's a supermoon in the sky right now.  "January 2018 is a very special month," says the Old Farmer's Almanac .  The Wolf Moon, as it's called this month, rose at 4:59 and will set at 7:33 a.m. on Jan. 2 "A Super full moon looks around 12 per cent to 14 per cent bigger than its counterpart, the micro moon, and up to 7 per cent bigger than an average full moon," says timeanddate.com , a popular astrology website. Luckily, loyal reader Theresa Cassan was able to take and share with us these breathtaking images of the moon on the night of Dec. 30, before the clouds gathered.  Hopefully skies will be clear for the second lunar event in January. Jan. 31 marks the date of a supermoon that is both blue and red. The moon is called blue because it's the second full moon in the month and it's red because it's going to be eclipsed.  On Jan. 31 the moon will still be very close to its perigee, or closest point in its orbit around the earth (less than 360,000 kilometers away) and a total lunar eclipse will be visible in much of northern Ontario, and a partial lunar eclipse will be visible in southern Ontario. Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Timmins and Elliot Lake will enjoy a view of the full lunar eclipse beginning about 6:50 a.m. and lasting about 12 minutes while North Bay, Sudbury, Manitoulin Island, Guelph and Barrie will be able to view a partial lunar eclipse at that time.

Colin Kirkwood, vice-president academic at Sault College. College 'generally pleased' with decision Saturday, December 30, 2017 8:51:21 EST AM Colin Kirkwood, vice-president academic at Sault College. Sault College administrative leaders are “generally pleased” with an arbitrator's decision to settle a contract dispute with Ontario college faculty. Professors, instructors, counsellors and librarians were on strike for five weeks before being legislated back to work in November. The decision, announced in late December, includes a 7.75 per cent raise over four years for faculty, one-time payments of $900 for each full-time faculty member and $450 for every partial-load employee. “The award itself looks reasonable,” Janice Beatty, vice-president of student services, told Sault College's board of governors during a meeting on Dec. 21. “It looks like something we can manage and live with, so we were generally pleased.” She told the board “there aren't a lot of significant changes” in the decision with wage increases that were “on the table” during negotiations and “minor language changes.” “The language looks, to me, very similar to the language that the college has had prior to the award,” said Beatty. “It's something that we think is reasonable and we're confident we can live with it.” Vice-president academic Colin Kirkwood told governors college brass are “looking forward to just moving forward. “We're anxious to get back to providing the services that the students are here for,” he said. Classes ended Dec. 22 for the Christmas break. The fall semester ends mid-January. The strike prompted 255 Sault College students to withdraw from their studies. They received full tuition refunds, but no credit for work done during the fall term. Sault College now wants to get those students back in the classroom.
